Privacy Policy
DriveLab Telem is published by Kyle Williams / Aurora Media Group. Privacy questions may be sent to [email protected].
Local gameplay telemetry
DriveLab receives BeamNG.drive OutGauge and MotionSim UDP telemetry directly from a computer on the same local network. Solo gameplay telemetry, rolling charts, driver progress, achievements, dashboard layouts, saved sessions, TrackLab courses, lap samples, and incident records remain in Android app-private storage unless the user intentionally shares an export or joins RaceLink.
DriveLab does not upload continuous solo speed traces, RPM traces, vehicle position, raw OutGauge packets, raw MotionSim packets, saved session files, screenshots, or crash recordings to the licensing server.
Optional service telemetry
After a prominent in-app disclosure, the user may allow limited service telemetry. When allowed, DriveLab may send a random app-generated installation ID and app version. The server uses those values to derive edition/status and active-day or service-health timestamps for version adoption, reliability, and support. This is not used for advertising and does not include raw solo gameplay telemetry.
Users can turn optional service telemetry off under Setup → Privacy & Data. Disabling it does not disable local dashboards. Necessary license activation, license refresh, Google Play purchase verification, and user-requested RaceLink traffic still occur when those features are used.
License activation and device security
Online activation and periodic refresh send the entered license key or signed refresh proof, random installation ID, Android Keystore public key, app version, timestamps, nonces, and related security data. The raw license key is checked transiently. License and refresh secrets are stored server-side as one-way keyed hashes, and device refresh material is protected on the phone with Android Keystore.
The licensing database may store an optional customer email or order reference, license status and edition, device allowance, activation timestamps, app version, installation ID, device public key and hash, activation history, and security audit records.
Google Play Billing
In the Google Play edition, Google Play processes payment. DriveLab receives a purchase token and product identifier from Google Play and sends the purchase token, product ID, package name, random installation ID, device public key, app version, and an obfuscated account identifier to the DriveLab server. The server verifies and acknowledges the purchase with Google and creates a linked Full Edition entitlement. DriveLab does not receive or store card numbers.
Google may retain purchase and account records under its own terms. DriveLab may retain minimal entitlement, refund, fraud-prevention, accounting, and audit records where legitimately required.
RaceLink
RaceLink is optional. While a user voluntarily joins or operates a room, the server processes the selected nickname/profile, friend and invitation information, room code and settings, room chat, simplified temporary course data, progress, lap and sector state, readiness, and final results. Temporary room state expires according to server rules and is not used for advertising.
Website analytics
The public DriveLab website may use Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion measurement only after the visitor makes the applicable website privacy choice. Website analytics are separate from the Android app. The Android app does not include an advertising SDK or behavioral-advertising SDK and does not use the advertising ID, location, microphone, camera, contacts, phone, SMS, or broad storage access.
Network and hosting information
DriveLab servers and hosting providers may process IP addresses, timestamps, user-agent strings, and technical logs for delivery, rate limiting, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and security. The public service may use Cloudflare infrastructure, which processes network-request information under Cloudflare's own terms.
User-initiated sharing
DriveLab can create result images, text summaries, and exports. Those items leave the app only when the user chooses Android's Share action or another explicit export destination.
Retention
Local data remains until the user clears app storage or uninstalls DriveLab. Server activation, entitlement, RaceLink, security, support, and deletion-request records are retained only as long as needed for their disclosed purpose. Minimal records may be retained for payment disputes, fraud prevention, accounting, legal compliance, or security audits. Completed deletion requests may be retained in limited form to document compliance and later deleted or anonymized.
Data deletion and correction
Users can request deletion or correction at drivelabregistration.org/data-deletion. The same page is linked inside the app under Setup → Privacy & Data. Identity, installation, license, or purchase ownership may need to be verified before data is changed or deleted so another person cannot delete a customer's entitlement.
A fulfilled request may remove or deactivate associated installation, activation, RaceLink profile, support, and optional service-telemetry records. Some purchase, fraud-prevention, accounting, legal, and security records may be retained when legitimately required. Data held directly by Google Play must be managed through the user's Google account and Google's services.
Clearing server data does not automatically erase data stored locally on the Android device. Local DriveLab data can be cleared through Android app settings or removed by uninstalling the app.
Security
DriveLab uses HTTPS for production traffic, signed license certificates, Android Keystore-protected device material, one-way keyed hashes for server-side secrets, restricted administrative access, and guarded backups. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Children
DriveLab is intended for a general gaming audience and is not directed specifically to children under 13. The app does not contain targeted advertising.
Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when functionality, data handling, or service providers change. The effective date will be updated for material revisions.
